Superintendent Pharmacist


Circa £45,000 - £50,000 plus full benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity for you, an experienced Superintendent Pharmacist to join a leading pharmaceutical company in Buckinghamshire.  You will be responsible for setting up and running the Pharmaceutical dept and as such, you should know your subject inside out with at least 7 years experience. 


 


You must beUKregistered Pharmacist with a valid GPhC Number, a professional, ethical approach and believe in providing outstanding patient care and customer service at all times.


 


Responsibilities



  • Responsible for compliance with Standards for Pharmacy Owners/Superintendent Pharmacist of retail pharmacy businesses and comply with the associated guidance available from GPhC.

  • You will be responsible for the day to day operation of the mail order/on-line pharmacy.

  • Dispensing prescription medicines to the public, following prescriptions issued by an authorised medical practioner;

  • Ensuring that different treatments are compatible;

  • Checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labeled (pharmacists are legally responsible for any dispensing errors);

  • Supervising the preparation of any medicines (not all are supplied ready made-up by the manufacturer);

  • Keeping a register of controlled drugs for legal and stock control purposes;

  • Liaising with doctors about prescriptions; counseling and advising the public on the treatment of minor ailments;

  • Advising patients of any adverse side-effects of medicines or potential interactions with other medicines/treatments;

  • Preparing dosette and cassette boxes, usually for the elderly but also for those with memory/learning difficulties, where tablets are placed in compartments for specified days of the week;

  • Undertaking Medicine Use Reviews (MUR), an advanced service to help patients understand how their medicines work and why they have to take them;

  • Providing a prescription intervention service;

  • Arranging the delivery, liaising with our Distribution department,  of prescription medicines to patients;

  • Budgeting and financial management;

  • Keeping up to date with current pharmacy practice, new drugs and their uses.



Essential Attributes



  • Must beUKregistered Pharmacist with valid GPhC Number

  • Accredited to provide Essential, Advanced and Enhanced services.

  • You will be a team player who is involved in all sides of the pharmacy business

  • You will be professional, ethical and believe in providing outstanding patient care and customer.

  • An excellent communicator who is confident at networking with patients and local healthcare professionals.

  • Focused and enthusiastic for the new pharmacy contract. Keen to develop and grow the service.

  • Minimum of one year’s experience in a Community (Retail) Pharmacist role


 


Preferred but not Essential


  • Au fait with Pharmacy systems

  • Experience of mail order/on-line pharmacy
