Our Client is a leading global provider of drug development and manufacturing services in the rapidly growing pharmaceutical outsourcing sector. The Company operates a network of fourteen facilities in Canada, the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom and France, employing over 5,600 people. They serve more than 150 pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, including 15 of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies.


They are now seeking a Pre-formulation Scientist for their PDS (Pharmaceutical Development Services Team). This position will be based in Wiltshire and is a full time permanent role.


Key Responsibilities

  • An Analytical Scientist with experience in drug Pre-formulation material characterisation is required. 
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for examining the physical and thermal properties of our clients' active substances.
  • The individual would be expected to interpret the data generated and to effectively communicate the results to both internal external customers.
  • As well as participating in discussions with the project team and client, you will be expected to highlight any potential issues and difficulties with the work and to provide solutions where appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience

It is expected that the individual will be familiar with the principles and operation of thermal physical methods of analysis (e.g. DSC, TGA, GVS, microscopy Malvern laser diffraction).  With these techniques you should have experience of developing methods, routine analysis and interpreting the data.  

Ideally, your experience will have been gained from within the pharmaceutical or related industries. Work is conducted within a cGMP environment and is hands on, fast paced and focused.

The individual within this role may occasionally be required to support the wider activities of the Analytical Development function.  As such, experience of HPLC testing would be advantageous, though not essential as any training would be provided. 

  • Science graduate or equivalent - Field of Study: Pharmaceutical Sciences or Chemistry
  • Relevant post graduate experience required, ideally with a development / validation background
  • Experience within Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry
  • Good general knowledge of pharmaceutical development.
  • Strong working knowledge of cGMP.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Well motivated
  • Ability to liaise with other staff and clients at all levels in a confident manner.
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow procedures.
  • Keen to work in a new and dynamic environment

In return our client is offering a highly competitive package including a basic salary between £25,000 and £30,000 per annum, (salary will be dependent on experience), plus a comprehensive benefits package.
